Ubuntu Life: Spreading Love, One Bracelet at a Time

I love to travel, and one of my favorite treasures to collect along the way is handcrafted jewelry. I especially love bracelets and necklaces and have built a fun, meaningful collection after visiting 32 countries across 7 continents — plus 42 U.S. states. Supporting independent artisans is close to my heart, so when I discovered Ubuntu Life and their LOVE bracelet made in Kenya by Maasai Maker Mums, I fell in, well, LOVE!

At the heart of Ubuntu Life lies a simple yet powerful symbol: the LOVE bracelet. Handcrafted with care and intention by a collective of Maasai Maker Mums in Kenya, these iconic bracelets represent more than just a fashion statement — they’re a story of resilience, hope, and the beauty of human connection.
The journey began two decades ago when Zane Wilemon, in search of meaning, bought a one-way ticket to Kenya. There, he met Jeremiah Kuria, and what began as a cross-cultural friendship soon evolved into a shared mission grounded in faith, development, and purpose. Their weekly lunches became incubators for big ideas — ways to serve and uplift the local community, especially those most often overlooked.
One of their earliest initiatives was a center for children with special needs, offering critical medical care and therapy. This not only transformed the lives of the children but also gave their mothers — the primary caregivers — a chance to reclaim their time. And with that time came a new question: “Can you help us do something productive?”
What began with nine Mums learning to sew on manual machines has blossomed into Ubuntu Life, a thriving social enterprise that now employs over 150 full-time Makers. Their craftsmanship powers a growing global movement — and the LOVE bracelet is at the core of it all.
Designed to mix and match with Ubuntu Life’s seasonal collections, each bracelet is a celebration of color, culture, and community. But more than that, it’s a tangible connection between maker and wearer — a reminder that love is something we build together.
When you wear an Ubuntu Life LOVE bracelet, you’re not just adding a beautiful piece to your wardrobe. You’re joining a movement of purpose-driven fashion that empowers women, uplifts families, and brings dignity to communities through meaningful work.
Love is more than a feeling — it’s a choice, a connection, and a cause worth supporting. And with Ubuntu Life, it’s beautifully handmade.
