Read: Weird Oregon

We are celebrating 503 Day today in Oregon, celebrating our famous area code and our city of Portland, So I wanted to showcase one of our family’s favorite books, Weird Oregon Your Travel Guide to Oregons Local Legends & Best Kept Secrets.

This book has been our staycation and let’s take a field trip inspiration. Some of our favorite unique locations that we have visited are … UFO Festival in McMinnville, Witches Castle in Macleay Park, Lady Liberty in Milwaukie, Harvey, the giant rabbit in Aloha, and the Peace Candle of the World in Scappose.

“The Pacific Northwest teems with colorful history and unique legendsand this tour of the Beaver State is no exception Check out the gas station restroom that looks like cowboy boots as you search the skies for a man flying across the state in a lawn chair tethered to helium balloons. And how about visiting that city in eastern Oregon with a year-round population of zero to two, depending on whether anyone gets trapped in the snow? Can it get any weirder than this!”
