March for Democracy

I believe deeply in decency, democracy, and the enduring promise of America. Now more than ever, it’s important to show up, speak out, and be counted for change.

Living under the current administration often feels like being in an upside-down universe — a reality that still leaves me deeply perplexed and concerned. But even in challenging times, it’s crucial that we stay engaged, connect with one another, and continue to fight for the values we hold dear.

I was proud to participate in the national “Hands Off” Day of Action on April 5th. Several thousand people took to the streets of Portland, joining a nationwide movement to protest what organizers are calling an “illegal, billionaire power grab” by President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Beyond Portland, the spirit of resistance echoed across Oregon, with hundreds gathering in Tigard, Madras, Pendleton, Medford, and other cities.

Right now, it can feel like a waiting game. But remember: every march, every conversation, every action matters. Put yourself out there, stay connected, and continue to show up — because together, we can be the change our country needs.
