SoCal Road Trip

I was able to sneak away for a few days in January to drive Mak’s drums down to him in Redondo Beach. With weather rolling through the Siskiyou Pass, I mapped out a more scenic route—one that took me through Redwood National Park, over to Trinidad to see its famous rock (that reminds us of Neskowin), and then down into Redding.

The next day, I made my way to the coast, skipping the notoriously stressful Grapevine by cutting over to the Pacific Coast Highway through Malibu. It turned the drive into something far more enjoyable—and far more beautiful.

After the delivery, I settled into beach life—playing pickleball in Manhattan Beach and savoring time with Mak over several great meals. A highlight was sushi at Japonica in Hermosa Beach. We also had dinner at MB Post in Manhattan Beach and had the most delicious Brussels sprouts of my life!

I stayed at westdrift Manhattan Beach, a new spot for me—and it has officially become my home base for visits with Mak.
